FIT Students Explore Kelp based Bio-textiles

Parsons student Margot Wester envisions a future where kelp might replace leather and less sustainable cruelty-free options. Using glycerin and locally grown kelp, Wester has produced a sample that has proven more durable than many of the synthetics used in backpacks. Part of the reason we founded Lazy Point Farms was exactly to encourage this sort of innovation--we're looking forward to the day that kelp leather hits the market!
